This daylong conference, open to the public, explored the strategic implications of India’s rise as a key player in Asia. An inter-disciplinary group of scholars, government officials, industry and NGOs from India, Japan, China and the United States discussed the emergence of India, Sino-Indian relations, the U.S.-India-China strategic triangle, and the future of Asia-Pacific economic cooperation.

The 22nd Annual Mansfield Conference was sponsored by the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana and the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation. Support for the conference is also provided by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA and the Tata Group.
