Asahi Shimbun August 2009 Emergency Public Opinion Poll

Methodology
The poll was conducted by telephone on August 1 and 2 with voters from across Japan , whose telephone numbers were selected by a computer at random.  Subjects were selected using a three-stage random sampling method (the Asahi RDD).  The total number of those polled was 1,760, with 1,037 responses and a 59% response rate.  Decimals were rounded up.  In instances where there are three columns of responses the first column are results from a poll conducted on July 4 and 5, 2009; the second column are results from a poll conducted on July 18 and 19, 2009; and the third column are results from this poll conducted on August 1 and 2, 2009.
