2009 (Morning Edition of the Asahi Shimbun). The last two questions pertaining to the Law
on Organ Transplantation were released on July 23 (Morning Edition of the Asahi Shimbun).
Methodology
The
poll was conducted by telephone on July 18 and 19 with voters from across
Japan
, whose
telephone numbers were selected by a computer at random. Subjects were selected using a three-stage
random sampling method (the Asahi RDD). The total number of those polled was 1,824, with 1,064 responses and a 58%
response rate. Decimals were rounded
up. The numbers in ( ) are the results
from a poll conducted on July 4 and 5, 2009.

Q3. A general election will be
held for the House of Representatives soon. To what extent are you interested in this election? Please select one from the following four choices:

important will DPJ President Hatoyama’s false fund
donation statements affect your decision?
The questions below pertain to the Law on Organ Transplantation:
Q10. Until now, the law has stipulated
that brain death is a valid criterion for pronouncing death only for those who
have agreed to be donors. However, the
law was recently revised to recognize brain death as actual death. Are you in favor or opposed to such a
revision?
Q11. Until now, the law
stipulated that those who did not provide written consent and those under 15
years old could not be donors. The new
law allows a deceased person’s family to approve of organ donations. Are you in favor or opposed to this revision?
