Current U.S. Government Assignments and Activities
In April 2000, accepted a position at GATX Capital Corporation, which is seeking to expand its operations in Asia. At Ex-Im Bank, served as the Bank's Japan Liaison responsible for any communication and coordination with the Bank's Japanese counterparts and other Japan-related institutions. Advanced and accompanied the chairman of the Bank on official visits to Japan. Advised the chairman and Bank officers about Japan's foreign loan examination practices and participated in strategic planning for how the Bank may cooperate with its counterparts in Japan.

Served as Japan Country Manager at the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco. Previously at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency where he advised the Office on Japanese financial system reform and participated in meetings with Japanese delegations. Was detailed to Treasury's Office of International Banking and Securities Markets, exclusively covering Japan. Chairs a national committee of economists, financial analysts, national bank examiners and engineers, which is developing a Web-based tool for national bank examiners to understand how U.S. regional economies are connected to international economic events. Presently, Chief Operating Officer, Japan-America Society of Northern California.
