Charles D. Ferris
Charles Ferris has been a member of the law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., in Washington, D.C. since 1981. His practice focuses primarily on communications and federal relations law. From October 1977 to April 1981, Mr. Ferris served as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.
Before assuming the chairmanship of the FCC, Mr. Ferris worked initially as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, and from 1964 to 1977 as general counsel to the U.S. Senate Democratic Policy Committee and chief counsel to Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield. He also served as general counsel to U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr., in 1977.
Mr. Ferris received his A.B. from Boston College (1954), and his J.D. from Boston College Law School (1961), where he was a member of the Boston College Law Review. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Boston College (1978).
